Reston, VA, Thursday, Sept. 28Debbie Peterson, featured on WashingtonExec's prestigious "Top HR Executive to Watch in 2023" list, has earned the title of an industry "catalyst" for her dedicated efforts in empowering both the current and future workforce within the GovCon community. This distinguished list recognizes individuals who excel in team nurturing, talent development, and the creation of opportunities for employees. 

Peterson embarked on her journey at MetroStar as a Proposal Writer, subsequently transitioning into various cross-functional roles, including Marketing Director and Chief of Staff. In her current role as Senior Vice President of People & Culture, she has spent the past two years fostering an inclusive and dynamic work environment for all employees. 

 

Among her initial priorities were addressing turnover, facilitating growth, enhancing engagement, and boosting productivity. Peterson tackled these challenges with unwavering determination while staying on top of evolving employment laws and the changing dynamics of the workplace. She recognizes the significance of offering a flexible work environment, accommodating remote and location-independent work.

In her efforts to promote employee growth, Debbie collaborated with MetroStar's leadership to design a career lattice and talent mobility program, providing employees with opportunities to explore new internal career paths. She also partnered with people leaders to develop Individual Development Plans (IDPs) outlining career objectives, desired skill acquisitions, and areas for improvement. These plans are the cornerstone for constructive discussions between employees and managers, facilitating meaningful progress toward personal and professional growth.
